Michelle's DIY Story

Michelle franceAnyone who lives in an old house knows that kitchens weren’t built with the space they are worthy of. The kitchen in my 1960’s cape was no exception. It was charming, yet modest and the cabinet space was severely lacking. Deciding to expand on the kitchen was a no brainer, but reality smacked me and I knew it just wasn’t in the budget. So, what’s a girl to do when she has nowhere to store her crock-pot?

She heads to the thrift store of course.

I would be lying if I said I found this buffet in one trip. In all honesty, I looked for almost a year before I spotted this beauty for $75 at Habitat for Humanity Cabarrus County ReStore.

After a light sanding, I stained the top with Minwax in English chestnut and painted the rest in Behr’s Wells Gray. I sealed the wood and attached new hardware I purchased from Home Depot. It took a day’s worth of hard work, but what New Englander wouldn’t do the same for their crock-pot?
